KUDRIN, Alexei Leonidovich

 Alexei Kudrin (Алексей Леонидович Кудрин) was born October 12, 1960 in Dobele, Latvia (USSR).
1983 - graduated from the Economics Faculty of the Leningrad State University. In December 1985 began graduate study at the Institute of Economics of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
October 1990 - began work as a deputy chairman on the Committee for Economic Reform of the executive committee of the Leningrad Soviet of Workers' Deputies. Following the disbandment of the committee, worked on the Committee for the Management of the Leningrad Free Enterprise Zone.
November 1991-1992 - served as Deputy Chairman on the Committee for Economic Development
August 1992-1993 - served as a Chairman of the Mayor's Financial Committee in St.Petersburg
1993-1996 - worked as Deputy, First Deputy Mayor, member of City government and Chairman of the Economy and Finances committee for the city of St. Petersburg
August 1996 - appointed Deputy Chief of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation, and Chief of the Administration on Trade, Economic and Scientific-Technological Cooperation.
March 1997- appointed First Deputy Finance Minister of Russian Federation
January 1999 - became First Deputy Chairman of the Administration of the Russian Joint Stock Company UES
June 6, 1999 - reappointed First Deputy Finance Minister of Russian Federation
May 18, 2000 - appointed Finance Minister of the Russian Federation
March 9, 2004 - reappointed Finance Minister
Sept. 25, 2007 - reappointed Finance Minister and appointed deputy prime minister
May 12, 2008 - reappointed Finance Minister and reappointed Deputy Prime Minister
Within government, Kudrin coordinates the work of the federal organs by giving their constituent commissions questions on the following areas:
- outlining and development of the fundamental directives of social and economic development of the Russian Federation
- conducting of a uniform financial, credit and monetary policy, management of national debt and financial assets of the Russian Federation
- state financial planning, development and execution of state budget, increase in effectiveness of budgetary expenses and integrity of budgetary system, development and realization of tax policy
- state investment policy and development of federal target programs, including definition of efficiency indicators
- state regulation of financial markets, insurance and auditor activity
Hobbies: tennis and swimming
Married for a second time, has a daughter from his first marriage and a son from his second
