Shvydkoi, Mikhail Yefimovich
Director, Federal Agency on Culture and Cinematography
Mikhail Shvydkoi was born on September 5, 1948 in Kyrgyzia. He finished school in Moscow, then graduated from GITIS (State Academy of Arts). Was drafted after graduating.
1973-1991 - worked as a secretary, editor's assistant and editor in the magazine "Teatr".
1991-1993 - was a CEO of Kultura Publishing House.
1993-1997 - served as Vice-Minister of Culture
August 1997-May 1998 - chief editor of Russian tv-channel Kultura
May 1997-January 2000 - president of the All-Russian Television and Radio Company
February 2000 - appointed Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation
May 2000-February 2004 - served as Minister of Culture in the cabinet of Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov
March 2004 - named Director of the Federal Agency for Culture and Cinematography
He is married with two sons
