SAVCHENKO, Yevgeny Stepanovich
Governor of the Belgorod Region
 Born April 8, 1950 in the village of Krasnaya Yaruga, Ukraine (then the Ukrainian SSR).
Graduated in 1976 from the Timiryazev Academy of Agriculture.
Oct. 1993, appointed Head of Administration of the Belgorod region.
May 30, 1999, elected governor of the Belgorod region with 53% of the vote. One of his competitors was Vladimir Zhirinovsky.
May 25, 2003, re-elected governor with 61% of the vote.
Married, with two daughters.
