POLTAVCHENKO, Georgy Sergeyevich

Born Feb. 23, 1953 in Baku, Azerbaijan.
1976 - graduated from the Leningrad Institute of Aviation Instrument Manufacturing
1980 - graduated from the Higher Courses of the KGB
Military Rank: Lieutenant-General
After graduation worked at Leninets Research and Production Association and at a district Komsomol committee in Leningrad.
1979 - began service in KGB
1980-1990 - occupied various posts, ultimately becoming chief of department, Vyborg directorate, regional department of KGB in Leningrad and Leningrad region
1990-1993 - deputy of Leningrad Regional Council
1993-1999 - chief of St. Petersburg directorate, Federal Tax Police
1999-2000 - plenipotentiary representative of the Russian President in Leningrad region
May 2000 - plenipotentiary representative of the Russian President in the Central Federal District
Member of the Russian Security Council
Awards: Rank II Order of the Holy and Righteous Prince Daniil of Moscow, Russian Orthodox Church (2001).
Hobbies: basketball, tennis.
Married, with one child.
