IVANOV, Viktor Petrovich

Born May 12, 1950.
1978 - graduated from the Leningrad Electric-Technical Institute of Communications
1978 - graduated from the Higher KGB Courses.
1971 - worked as an engineer for "Vector" scientific and production enterprise.
1977 - KGB officer.
1978 - after finishing the Higher KGB Courses, was sent to work at a Regional KGB Division in Leningrad.
1987 - 1988 - served in Afghanistan.
1988 - 1994 - worked in the Leningrad region KGB Department and was promoted from an operations agent to an administration member of the Federal Security Service Department of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region.
His last post at St. Petersburg security bodies was head of smuggling prevention section. De facto he headed the Service of Economic Security of the St. Petersburg Federal Security Service Department.
October 1994 - discharged into reserve in the rank of a colonel and appointed immediately head of administrative bodies department in the St. Petersburg Mayor's office.
However, he did not interrupt contacts with his colleagues from the Leningrad region KGB Department. For this very reason, in 1997, Ivanov - alongside with some other administrative members of the Federal Security Service Department of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region - was offered a post at the Central Apparatus of the Russian Federation Federal Security Service.
April 1999 - January 5, 2000 - head of the Department of Economic Security (Forth Department) of the Russian Federal Security Service and deputy Director of the Federal Security Service
January 5, 2000-March 2004 - deputy head of the Presidential Administration
March 2004-present - presidential aide
