Born July 13, 1959 in the village of Vozdvizhenka, Apanasenkovsky district of Stavropol territory.
1981 - graduated from the Kuban Institute of Agriculture.
1990 - 1994, deputy of the council of People's deputies of Stavropol territory.
1993 - graduated from the Russian Academy of State Service to the President of Russian Federation.
December 17, 1995 - elected to the State Duma of Russian Federation.
November 17, 1996 - elected head of Administration of Stavropol territory with 55% of the vote in the second round
Deceber 17, 2000 - re-elected with 56.5% of the vote
Holds the military rank of capitan
Married, with three children.
Hobbies: sports, fishing and hunting.
