BOOS, Georgy Valentinovich
Governor of Kaliningrad Region
 Born January 22, 1963 in Moscow
1986 - graduated from the Moscow Power Engineering Institute (MEI). Graduate degree in technical sciences
1986-1988 - served in the Soviet Air Force.
1988-1991- worked as senior engineer, junior researcher at the All-Union Design Institute for Lighting Technology, and high school algebra and geometry teacher in Moscow.
1991-1993 - served as director of Svetoservis, a lighting design and manufacturing enterprise.
1993-1995 - general director of Svetoservis, now a joint-stock company
Dec. 17, 1995 - elected State Duma deputy from the Medvedkovo region of Moscow
Jan. 1996-Sept. 1998 - served as Duma deputy, vice-chairman of the Our Home is Russia faction and member of the Budget and Tax Committee.
Sept. 29, 1998 - appointed head of the State Tax Service.
Dec. 23, 1998- May 12, 1999 - worked as tax minister of the Russian Federation (dismissed by Boris Yeltsin in May 1999 together with the entire cabinet of then Prime Minister Yevgeny Primakov)
Nov. 3, 1998-1999 - member of the board of state representatives at the Public Russian Television (ORT) joint-stock company
July 1999-Dec. 1999 - chief of the election campaign of the Fatherland (Otechestvo) political party
Dec. 19, 1999 - returned to the Duma as deputy, again elected by the Medvedkovo region of Moscow. Member of the Fatherland--All Russia faction (subsequently merged with Unity, to form the United Russia party).
Feb. 11, 2000-2005 - deputy speaker of the State Duma
Dec. 7, 2003 - reelected as Duma deputy from the Medvedkovo region, Moscow. Member of the Duma Tax and Budget Committee.
September 7, 2005, appointed governor of Kaliningrad region
Member of the supreme council of the United Russia party.
Married to Yelena Lirina-Boos, they have three children
