1971 - graduated from Novosibirsk Institute of Agriculture
holds a candidate degree in economics
1990 - elected deputy of the Council of People's deputies of Tomsk region
October 1991 - appointed Governor of Tomsk region by President of Russian Federation
1993 - appointed to the Federation Council of the Russian Federation
1995 - elected governor of Tomsk region
September 19, 1999 - reelected to this post
September 2000 - March 2001 - served as a member of Presidium of the State Council of the Russian Federation
September 2003 - reelected to a third term with 70% of the vote
