KOROTKOV, Leonid Viktorovich
Former Governor of Amur region.
Born January 19, 1965 in Zavitinsk, Amur Region.
1987 - graduated from the Far Eastern State University
1999 - graduated from the Finance Academy
1993 - appointed to the Federation Council of the Russian Federation
1995 - elected to the State Duma
April, 8, 2001 - elected governor of Amur region with 49% of the vote
re-elected Feb 2005
Dismissed by President Putin April 10th 2007 and charged with illegally increasing
utility tariffs from 2004 to 2006 to finance a local football club,
Amur. He also was charged with mismanaging $4.8 million from regional
coffers. Has protested his innocence.
Married with two sons.
