KIRIENKO, Sergei Vladilenovich
Head of the Russian Atomic Energy Agency (ROSATOM)
Born July 26, 1962, in Sukhumi, Abkhaz ASSR, Georgia.
1984 - graduated with honors from the Gorky Institute of Water Transport Engineering; majored in ship building.
1993 graduated from a two-year management course at the Moscow Academy of the National Economy; majored in banking and finance.
1984-1986 - served in the Soviet Army
1986 - began working as a foreman at the Krasnoye Sormovo ship-building works, then was elected secretary of a local Komsomol organization, and later on, secretary of Krasnoye Sormovo Komsomol committee, first secretary of the Gorky regional Komsomol committee, and a member of the All-Union Leninist Communist Youth League (Komsomol) Central Committee
March 1990 - elected member of the Gorky Regional Council of People's Deputies
January 1994 - founded of Nizhni Novgorod bank Garantiya (Guarantee) and became the chairman of its board
November 1996 - became president of the oil company Norsi
May 13, 1997- November 20, 1997- First Deputy Minister of Fuel and Energy of the Russian Federation where he was responsible for strategic forecasting and planning, as well as state regulation, formation of joint-stock companies, privatization and demonopolization in the oil industry.
September 2, 1997 - was appointed deputy chairman of the Governmental Commission for Coordination of the Implementation of Production-Sharing Agreements between federal executive bodies and regional authorities
October 1997 - appointed head of the Interdepartmental Commission for independent entities' access to Gazprom's gas-transportation network
October 1997- became a member of the panel of state representatives in the Transneft company
November 20, 1997- March 23, 1998 - appointed Minister of Fuel and Energy of the Russian Federation.
March 23, 1998 - appointed First Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation
April 24, 1998 - Russian State Duma approved Kirienko as Chairman Government
May 25, 1998 - appointed to the Security Council of the Russian Federation.
May 29, 1998 - approved as chairman of the Russian side of the Russian-American Commission for Economic and Technological Cooperation
June 1998 - appointed chairman of the Russian Federation State Commission for Military Construction
August 23, 1998 - resigned as Chairman of the Government
October 2, 1998 - fired from the Security Council
November 14, 1998 - fired from the Russian-American Commission for Economic and Technological Cooperation
Fall 1998 - returned to politics as the leader of the New Force federal movement, registered on December 18, 1998
December 1999- May 2000 - elected to the State Duma
Leader of the Union of Right Forces faction
May 2000 - appointed Representative to the Volga Federal District, removed from post November 14, 2005
November 16, 2005 - appointed head of the Russian Atomic Energy Agency (Rosatom)
