Born Nov. 20, 1947 in Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine (then part of the USSR)
1970 - graduated from Dnepropetrovsk State University, majored in hydroaerodynamics
1999 - graduated from the Russian Academy of Public Service, specialized in state and municipal management
1970-1972 - worked in the Dnepropetrovsk branch of the tire industry scientific research institute
1972-1978 - taught at a technical training college in Dnepropetrovsk
1979-1988 - mechanic, head of garage, deputy head of the automobile enterprise in New Urengoi
1986-1991- member of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (SPSU); member of the control and revision committee
From 1991- participates in democratic movement
From 1994- member of the Democratic Party of Russia.
1988-1992 - director of technical training college in New Urengoi
1992-1994 - deputy head of New Urengoi town administration
1994-1996 - deputy of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area Duma; was deputy chairman of the Duma
April 1998 - reelected to the regional Duma from constituency № 8 (New Urengoi)
March, 26 2000 - reelected for the third time
April, 15 2000 - elected deputy chairman of the regional Duma
December 2000, elected member of Federation Council for Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area
Member of the Committee of for the Affairs of Ethnic Minorities and the North
Member of the Commission for Regulations and Parliamentary Procedures.
Feb. 2002 -present - chairman of the Federation Council Commission for Youth Affairs and Sports.
Married, with a son
Hobbies: master of sports of the USSR in Greco-Roman wrestling
