KARLIN, Alexander Bogdanovich
Governor of Altai Territory
Born 29 October, 1951 in Medvedka village, Altai territory.
1972 - graduated from Sverdlovsk Institute of Laws. Has a Candidate degree in law
1972-1973 - service in Soviet Army.
1974-1977 - aide to the Prosecutor of the city of Biysk, Altai territory.
1977-1983 - deputy Prosecutor of Priobsky District, then deputy Prosecutor of Barnaul
1983-1986 - head of Office of Public Prosecutor of Altai territory
1986-1989 - senior Prosecutor of the Public Prosecutor Administration of the USSR
1989-1990 - aide to the General Prosecutor of USSR for special charges
1990-1992 - deputy Head of of the Public Prosecutor Administration of the USSR
1992-2000 - head of the department, deputy head of administration, head of the Office of General Public Prosecutor of Russian Federation
2000-2001- stats-secretary – first deputy Minister of Justice of Russian Federation
2001-2004 -first deputy Minister of Justice of Russian Federation
April 2004 - August 2005 - head of the Civil Services Department of the Russian Federation
August 17, 2005, after the death of Altai Territory's governor Mikhail Yevdokimov, was nominated by President Putin to be the new governor of Altai Territory
Has received the titles Deserved Lawyer of Russian Federation and Honorable Worker of the Office of Public Prosecutor. Honorable Worker Justice
Married, with two sons
