Economy: The Kursk Region is the center of the Kursk magnetic anomaly, the world's largest iron ore basin, and therefore mining and the development of mining dominate the economy.   Mineral reserves in the Kursk region includes deposits of gold, platinum, uranium, lead, zinc, copper, and aluminum.  Kursk is also the home of a large nuclear power plant that exports electricity to other countries and regions.
