Geography: Khabarovsky borders the Jewish Autonomous Region, Yakutia and the Amur and Magadan regions as well as China. The territory also lies on the Seas of Okhotsk and Japan.

Economy: The territory's economy is primarily focused on the mining of minerals and coal. The territory's location also makes fishing an important industry.
Governor Viktor Ishayev is overseeing the construction of a 225 Km gas pipeline to Nikolayevsk-on-Amur to be operable in October 2008, which involves the cooperation of RAO UES . The pipeline cost is estimated at Rbs3.5 bln ($131.7 mln) and will carry 200 mln cubic meters of gas a year. The project was commissioned by the local electricity company, Khabarovskenergo, whose management has already announced a tender for a contractor.
Polymetal Mining Holding plans to intensify exploration at the Albazino deposit in Khabarovsk Territory and have aommissioned a plant to be completed by the end of 2009 or the beginning of 2010 (initial investment $120-$200 mln).
