RIO-Center (Center for Development of the Information Society)

RIO-Center is a nongovernmental and noncommercial organization founded in 2003 by members of the scientific and academic society. They are: Institute of Economics of the Russian Academy of Sciences; Moscow Technical University for Communications and Information; Institute of General History of the Russian Academy of Sciences; Kurchatov Institute; Center for Postindustrial Society Studies.
The main goal of RIO-Center – contribute to building an Information Society in Russia.

To accomplish this goal the think-tank tries to solve the following problems:
• Cooperation of specialists and scientists, who work on and study the problems of the Information society in Russia;
• Initialization and stimulation of problems, which concern studies in the field of information science;
• Execution of projects, which relate to and stimulate the development of the Information society in Russia, for governmental institutions and private companies;
• Development promotion of the Information Society;

Chairman of the Board of RIO-Center is Igor Urgens. Members of the Board of the RIO-Center are highly respected experts, scientists and politicians, including Member of the State Duma Andrei Kokoshin.
Head of the Board of Trustees is Minister of Information Technologies and Communication Leonid Reiman.
