The Left Front, a loose confederation of radical leftist groups which held a founding congress in Moscow last week, took its first major action as an entity on Saturday. The Day of People's Wrath, as the demarche was called, culminated in meetings against corruption, unemployment and unfair housing construction. In Moscow and in Russia’s other big cities, it is a common practice for enormous apartment blocks to be built right next to older quarters, blocking sunlight and fresh air for the existing residents or simply forcing them out of their homes.
