Last week, the organizers of the 31st Annual Moscow International Film Festival (MIFF) held their opening press conference introducing this year’s event. The festival will incorporate 24 different themes and showings, beginning with a screening of Tsar by renowned Russian film director Pavel Lungin—who is also serving as the chairman of the jury for the main competition this year—followed by a number of non-competitive and special screenings, such as “Contemporary Focus on Bulgaria” and “Soviet Georgian Cinema: From ‘The Vow’ to ‘Repentance’.”
