2012 Presidential Elections

Presentation of sample ballot papers

Russians are due to go the polls to elect a new president on March 4, 2012. Any Russian citizen who has lived in Russia for the last ten years and is over 35 years of age is eligible to run for president. Current President Dmitry Medvedev has said that he will not run in the elections and is backing frontrunner and former President Vladimir Putin's bid to return to the presidency.
