Geography: Tula is located in central European Russia. It shares a border with the Moscow, Ryazan, Lipetsk, Orel, and Kaluga regions.

Economy: The Tula region has large reserves of coal, iron ore, limestone, clay, and sand.  Agriculture in the region specializes in raising beef and dairy cattle, pigs, sheep, poultry, and goats and cultivating grain (mainly wheat), feed crops, potatoes, sugar beets, vegetables and fruit.
