Geography: The Republic of Ingushetia is located in the Russian Caucasus and is bordered by Chechnya, Georgia and North Ossetia. The Caucasus Mountains cross the republic and several rivers flow down through the mountains. Major rivers include the Sunzha, Armkhi and Assa. Urban population: 42%, Rural population: 58%

Economy: Ingushetia's wealth of mountain rivers is utilized to produce a significant amount of hydoelectric power. The republic also has alot of mineral resources, but most of the population is engaged in agriculture. The main crops grown in Ingushetia are corn, wheat, oats, barley, sugar beet, sunflowers, and potatoes. Cattle, sheep and pig farming are also well developed.
