Dzhakan Pollyeva (Джахан Реджеповна Поллыева) was born April 15, 1960 in Ashkhabad, Turkmenistan. A Russian politician, she was appointed chief of staff of the State Duma on December 27, 2011.
In 1982 Pollyeva graduated from the law faculty of Moscow State University. She then spent four years taking post-graduate courses at the Institute of State and Law of the Russian Academy of Sciences. In the late 1980s she worked as a researcher at the Komsomol Institute of Youth Affairs, working her way up to head the department.
From 1990 to 1991 Pollyeva was a consultant to the Moscow City Government. She then spent a year as head of the Social and Political Analysis and Forecasting Department of Russia. In 1992 she was appointed a consultant to the Presidential Administration, and the following year an adviser to then-Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Shakhrai.
In the mid 1990s Pollyeva was vice president of the Interfax news agency. In 1997 she also worked as an advisor to then-First Deputy Prime Minister Boris Nemtsov. Later the same year she became senior reviewer to the President. In May 1998 Pollyeva headed the government staff under then-Prime Minister Sergei Kirienko.
Pollyeva was appointed deputy head of the Presidential Administration in September 1998, with responsibility for public relations and speech writers. The following year she headed a special political planning directorate, responsible for development forecasts in Russia. From March 2004 to 2011 Pollyeva was a presidential aide.
On December 27, 2011, Pollyeva was appointed State Duma chief of staff.
Pollyeva is married and has a son.
