AGAPTSOV, Sergei Anatolyevich

Auditor of the Accounts Chamber of the Russian Federation Sergei Agaptsov 04/19/2010

Sergei Agaptsov (Сергей Анатольевич Агапцов) was born in Pronin in the Volgograd Region of Russia on December 25, 1961. He graduated from the history department of Volgograd State University in 1986 and then taught history in secondary school and at the Volgograd Agricultural Institute until 1989. During this time, he was also an adviser to the House of Political Education in Volgograd.

In 1992 he completed post graduate study at the Academy of Social Sciences of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (now known as the Academy of Public Service of the President of the Russian Federation). From 1992 to 1995, he was a senior lecturer at the Volgograd Academy of State Services and director of the industrial firm Rasagromet.
In the late 1990s he worked as deputy, then director,of a tractor parts plant. He was elected to the Volgograd regional Duma in 1998, where he served as head of the budget and taxes committee.

From 2001 to 2004, he was a member of the Federation Council for the Volgograd region, sitting on the committee for the Budget. For the last two years of this post he was also chairman of the Federation Council Commission for Relations with the Audit Chamber of the Russian Federation.
On June 9, 2004, Agaptsov was elected Auditor of the Russian Federation Accounts Chamber by the Federation Council. He was elected to serve a second term on March 31, 2010.

Agaptsov is married and has two children.
